After open enrollment closes, you can still get a Marketplace plan if you have a qualifying life event in the last 60 days, such as losing employer coverage, getting married, having a baby or moving to a new state with prior coverage. Without one, a healthy driver can apply for a private medically underwritten plan any month of the year. The next Marketplace open enrollment starts November 1.

Many are built on nationwide PPO networks, which is exactly what a driver needs, and this is the time of year they matter most, because the Marketplace is closed to anyone without an event.
